Rehearsal of a scene from William Shakespeare's As You Like It by members of the Sock and Buskin Society, circa 1916.

The actor playing the Clown is Frederick H. Koch, UND Professor of English (1905-1918) and Founding Director of the Sock and Buskin Society.  The photo was taken in Woodworth Auditorium, the first indoor home of the Sock and Buskin Society.

The S&B had dedicated the 1915-16 season to the research and celebration of the 300th Anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.  The season culminated with the nationally renowned premiere pageant performance of Shakespeare, The Playmaker.

Additional photos of these rehearsals can be found in Rehearsals for As You Like It and MacBeth in Woodworth Auditorium
